So, this is REALLY late. I've had the lines done for a long time, but just never got around to coloring them. I didn't really like the lining job that I did, so I guess I was just putting it off for that reason. There have been some rule changes though, so I'll be posting them. Abilities: Kaya has the particular ability to reach in and search through people's minds as well as control them to a certain degree, but she rarely uses this ability due to the temptation that it poses and the fact that it is a massive intrusion (plus there are some drawbacks). The main ability that she uses is her telekinesis, meaning she can move things with her mind. She also has a little heightened agility, not super speed, but just quicker on her feet and more flexible than most.
Parents: Matau (father) and Kiari (deceased mother)
Siblings: None
Offspring: None
Personality (more in depth): Due to her upbringing and rearing in the Noble society, Kaya follows orders well and is very loyal to those that she believes have earned it. Due to these same factors though, she is suspicious of most authority and takes some time to truly trust anyone. To those that don't know her, she may seem friendly and open, but she holds many secrets. In general, she is a kind person with a caring heart, but is still learning to think for herself. She can be shy and bashful, but can easily shift into a cold blooded killer if need be.
Likes: Good friends, trusted allies, a worthy challenge, the company of others, food, gardening, a good fight, and kids (but in a motherly way). She LOVES little children, though she's never had any of her own. She is highly maternal, making it easy for her to feel the need to protect and comfort children.
Dislikes: the abuse of authority, the Noble ideals, oppression of the weak, thinking about the things she's done
Other Facts: Kaya was born and raised as a Noble, an elitist group that rules almost all of her homeworld and oppresses anyone that they consider lesser than a Noble. She was born to a Noble father and an "impure" mother, just like Ruyo.
Notable traits: Kaya was born with longer ears than most Apocs, a trait that she is quite self-conscious about. These long ears, as a sign of her rank in her military Noble standing, were notched. Though not cropped or cut entirely, they exhibit a significant, circular cut at the base on either side and notch towards the end. Two, blueish earrings are tagged to the inner arc of her circular cut. Such a cut, though perhaps not desired, was mandatory in her position.
Bio: Kaya's father (Matau) was a highly regarded Noble in their world, but fell in love with Kaya's impure mother (Kiari). Her mother was lucky enough to be born with the looks of a Noble though, and could thus pass as one. She married and lived with Matau for years undetected, even bearing their first and only child, Kaya.
One day, when Kaya was about five, word got out that her mother was impure. The Nobles came and tore apart her family's home in the palace city. It was so unexpected, so out of the blue, that no one would have seen it coming. Matau fought to protect his wife, but she was slain right there in the family home, as her crime of posing as a Noble were considered to be beyond treason. Things didn't end there though. For his resistance, Kaya's father was taken into custody for "reconditioning" and Kaya was bumped up to an academy a year early. She was lucky to be allowed to live, being only half Noble and all, but she was deemed pure enough. She met all the physical requirements and would be allowed to live until it could be confirmed that she had a blitz dragon form...which she would later prove to have.
In compliance with the Noble ways, Kaya was placed into a military training academy because her father was a high ranking military officer. In the Noble society, one is required to step into the same field of work as their father. Thus, military for Kaya. From the time she was little, she was both brainwashed into believing the lie that impures deserved eradication and was trained to kill without hesitation.
Training wasn't something that accompanied learning. Learning was just a side benefit for those that were doing well. Training was a way of life. It never stopped. In order to teach the next generation of soldiers to never leave the combat mindset, they would be attacked at random intervals and forced to fight back. Life was hard, but Kaya quickly desensitized to it... even when, by the age of ten, they had the child soldiers fight each other in a life-or-death combat scenario. Kaya came out on the top of her class.
Things changed though, when Kaya's mental abilities manifested. Her mind manipulation and telekinesis were highly valued skills that the Nobles immediately jumped at the chance to refine. They trained harder, drilling her constantly to learn how to use her abilities to their fullest potential. They even gave her real experience. They brought her, a child, into real interrogations to delve into people's minds and steal information from them. There was one problem that they hadn't anticipated though. When Kaya breaks into a mind, she can't block out everything. She doesn't just see what she's looking for, but also all sorts of memories and thoughts. So, when reading a war criminals constantly, Kaya had a steady flow of the other side's story, a break in the brainwashing teachings of the Nobles. Those people that she interrogated, whether they knew it or not, planted a seed in her mind, a seed of suspicion that the Nobles were in the wrong.
This seed came sprouted over the years, growing the more experience she got. Though she continued to move from one station to another, rising quickly in the ranks, she remembered and struggled with the truths that she'd seen. Things only became more clear when she was stationed in a place where they worked slaves known as "the pits." The conditions, the people, the guards, everything. It all just confirmed her suspicions. So, six months after being moved from the pits, when she met a foreign prisoner while working as a guard in an interrogation prison, she finally made her choice. Breaking free from what she'd been taught, she helped the prisoner and his allies escape, leaving her old way of life forever.
